Between reality and virtual..

As a gamer myself, possible contents/themes are important upon selecting games for my gaming machine(s). Say, I'd to be careful with my purchase considering some games have certain themes that are unsuitable for kids (by kids, I'd say those who haven't 'matured' yet )

One of the most common themes found in video games is violence/gore, which somehow is quite bothersome for someone like me. I don't really take violence and gore in video games serious because in many ways they aren't real. As for movies, I'd grab my largest teddy bear pillow and watch in horror as blood splashes and brains splatter across the scene.

But, what if there's a video game that has reality/movie-esque feel to it?

This is what I've encountered with Gears of War series. I tend to joke around with my brother every time we play GoW (We are currently playing through GoW2 campaign at the moment) but there are scenes that keep me at the edge of my sofa, holding my teddy bear pillow while either crying out of sadness or horror.

Spoilers ahead

Frankly speaking, I'm still disturbed with the part where Tai commits suicide after Delta squad rescued him (though it's understandable that he's broke after being tortured by locusts)

On the other hand, GTA series is quite good at reflecting our reality, which makes me laugh pretty hard (blame the physic engine they use, even getting thrown off from helicopter is a joke )
